Charity Spotlight: Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary

The journey towards building the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary began on December 14, 2012 with the heart-wrenching death of Catherine Violet Hubbard at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Although she was only six years old, Catherine was remarkably kind and compassionate towards animals, whether she was inspecting an insect in the palm of her hand or throwing her arms around a furry companion.

From a very early age, Catherine made it clear that she intended to grow up to take care of animals. She wanted to keep them out of harm’s way, going as far as to create personal business cards for “Catherine’s Animal Shelter,” giving herself the title “Care Taker.”

To bring meaning to Catherine’s shocking and premature death, which cut her dream short before she had a chance to realize it, the CVH Animal Sanctuary was constructed in Newtown, CT. There, in memory and honor of her benevolence towards animals, is a safe haven where all creatures can feel protected, as Catherine would have wanted them to.

Tucked in the heart of Newtown, CT, on 34 acres of unspoiled farmland, lies the CVH Animal Sanctuary.  This site, complete with areas of both forests and fields, was conferred by the state of Connecticut to the CVH Foundation in September 2014.  Only a few minutes from the highway, it is easy to access for passersby.
