Every year October reminds us that early detection, research, and awareness all save lives. In support of efforts to prevent and cure breast cancer, Adform has donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). Currently the BCRF is the largest private funder of metastatic breast cancer research in the world, with over $27 million committed across 90 projects.
Research shows that when chemotherapy is delayed, a patient’s chance of survival falls significantly. A JAMA Oncology study suggests patients that have a time lapse to chemotherapy after surgery of more than 91 days have a 27% increased risk of death from breast cancer. Those who are most likely to experience delays are underserved and underinsured patients. Dr. Lori Pierce, president of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, discusses some of the challenges presented by healthcare inequality in the video below.
