In the News: A Pen That's Out of This World

Looking for a memorable branded gift that has been carried onboard NASA space missions, used by Presidents, and is featured in the New York Museum of Modern Art? Search no further than the pen that writes in nearly any environment and is made by a family-owned business in Boulder City, NV.

Introducing Fisher Space Pen®

The AG7 Astronaut Space Pen launches into space onboard the NASA/SpaceX Mission.

Paul C. Fisher founded Fisher Space Pen Co. in 1948, however, the development of a sealed and pressurized ink cartridge was what launched the company into orbit around 1966. Prior to the invention of the space pen, astronauts used pencils, as well as grease pencils, on plastic slates in the absence of gravity.

The sealed and pressurized ink cartridge was built for the AG7 Anti-Gravity Pen which underwent two years of rigorous testing by NASA before being deployed on the Apollo 7 mission in 1968. Fisher Space pens have accompanied every NASA manned space flight since and now have a permanent exhibit inside the Apollo/Saturn V Center at Kennedy Space Center.

Fisher Space pens are famous for more reasons than one. In 1983, President Reagan used a Fisher Space pen to sign a Proclamation inaugurating the Air and Space Bicentennial Year to celebrate Man’s First Flight in a Hot Air Balloon near Paris, France. The pens have been found onboard the International Space Station and are also utilized by Russian and Chinese space programs.

The Chrome Bullet model was coined 'The Pen' on television show Seinfeld. In 1996 Good Morning America named the Fisher Space pen the 'Best Stocking Stuffer'. Also that year Fisher Space Pen Co. received permission to manufacture 150th Anniversary Pens for the Smithsonian.

Fisher Space pens are built for more than outer space. Thanks to the patented sealed and pressurized ink cartridge, they will write in a variety of atmospheres and on almost any surface - underwater or over grease, extreme temperatures (-30 thru +250 F), upside down or floating - to name a few.

The sealed and pressurized ink cartridges last three times longer than the average pen with an estimated 100-year shelf life and are available in a broad selection of over 85 eye catching designs and styles.

Fisher Space Pen Co. has received hundreds, if not thousands, of videos and letters from people eager to share their unique stories and encounters: from outdoor enthusiasts, to contractors and tradesmen, to those serving in the armed forces, to artists and journalists.

Though small enough to fit into a pocket, the pens underpin the innovation, quality, and reliability that is synonymous with the American space program and are valued by anyone looking for a dependable pen that will perform.

A portion of the proceeds from sales of their First Responders Pen is donated to First Responders organizations. Their Antimicrobial Brass Space Pens support the Feeding America COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Fisher Space Pen Co. has employed 26% of its workforce for over 20 years. Comments Cary Fisher, the founder's son, “Our employees are our lifeblood. We know everyone on a first name basis and treat them all with respect and dignity. Our company would not be where it is today without them.”
